Lebanon: Hezbollah Controls West Beirut

This AP photo shows a Shiite gunman from the Amal group, allied with Hezbollah, guards an intersection in West Beirut. Half of the city is now under the military control of the opposition. The U-S backed government of Fouad Siniora is now hanging by a thread.

This morning, Hezbollah militiamen took over the headquarters of Future TV, a pro-government network in Lebanon.

The road to the airport is still closed and checkpoints are peppered throughout Beirut.

What will pro-government supporters do now? As journalist Habib Battah wrote this morning : "militia logic has returned" to the streets of the capital city.
why does cnn always put a one side story news? the militia are those that take control of the Lebanese government, not Hezbollah. those pitiful puppet politicians represent the constitution of the US and Israel, not the constitution of Lebanon. if the UN really exists it should stand by Lebanon's constitution not as always by the side of the awful and tyranic US politic.
"Hezbollah militiamen"????

why don't you call them by their real name:

Teheran's puppet terrorists out to destroy the state of Lebanon and anyone who stands in their way.

They will start kidnapping soon, they have lots of experience in this democratic practice!!
It is the Lebanese army that took over future tv news because it was loaded of mustakbal armed militia who were shooting on people and it took fire by itself because of an incident.

Hizbullah are protecting all civilians and are working to the unity of Lebanon. this is how most Lebanese view them.
When a Lebanese reads that some of the comments present he or she realizes that all common sense has disappeared and only the language of pure hate and vendeta is not only blind but is meant to spite. I would like to ask anonymous how can a movement that was founded on the basis of humanitarian aid hold guns in its TV. Would a militia give up its arms in 24 hours and its offices in less than that if it had weapons? Obviously the only thing they had was the word and the good deed that not only helped those in need but all those who asked for aid no matter which faction they belonged to or which political group they were affiliated to . Pleaase have some reason and stop listenng to mad men whose only aim is to anihilate a sect. Yes It is a war on Future youth and every thing that they have done or stand for. Brother hood and charity work.
Pro Governmental armed men are called loyals while opposition gunman are called militias. that's non bias media for you!

I'll say it again weapons are everywhere! in coffeeshops, tv stations, camps.... it's not a myth. arms have been flooding into Lebanon and all in preperation to this. Isreal couldnt destroy Hezbollah in 06 now the international scene wants fellow Lebanese to do it.
WISE UP. RISE UP.
Since I was in my early teens living in Lebanon in the early 70s all I heard that Israel is out to take Lebanon. We migrated to Australia and still heard that Israel is goint to take Lebanon. The civil war started in Lebanon and the same scenario was heard about Israel. Then Hizbollah was created in the early 80's and all we heard that it was going to fight the zionists in the South of Lebanon. Now Lebanon is in turmoil with no government, escalating debts, because of Hizbollah's fake war with Israel in 06 and now Israel is not the picture but Hizbollah is fighting with their own people of Lebanon - and I still hear and read that it's Israel and the US doing of what's happening in Lebanon. Really the lebanese people should look at the bigger picture of their future and their country's future. It does not involve getting rid of Israel. Peace can be achieved in the ME. But how will Hizbollah and it's pupput Michel Aoun will manage to run Lebanon if they decide to get rid of the current lebanese government? I am dying to know. Someone enlighten this ignorant reader.
Is 2:04 talking about Mother Theresa or what? was stealing all the properties of Downtown to make "solidere" a humanitarian aid? and the 40 billion debt that particularly Rafic Hariri inflicted on Lebanon was part of the humanitarian aid as well? Is there any pure "love language" to describe such deeds?

Is brotherhood and charity work to let Lebanese youth hold arms to shoot on people who were protesting against the high taxes lebanese are paying and this politics of impoverishing Lebanese citizens that has started since the politics of rafic hariri and is continuing up till now with saniora politics.

Is holding the lebanese government hostage part of humanitarian aid. Is refusing to share leadership with other majors fractions in Lebanon part of the humanitarian aid?

so please remember that we're in politics here not religion. in religion anyone cannot talk but in the language of pure love but in politics there are facts and facts are to be told as they are: pure disgusting deeds cannot be described but as such.
Now 2:04 is saying that the large quantity of weapons and arms that were found in all future movement offices that the lebanese army took over, were for brotherhood, charity work and humanitarian aid?
I am so ashamed to be Lebanese when i see Tv reports and even more when i read the comments posted on Hala's blog. it is a if 25years of civil war haven't tought us anything. We do not deserve this country. As one musician accompaning Fairuz put it when interviewed this week upon his return from the gulf: " they (gulfis)took a desert and turned it into heaven, we inherited heaven and are turning it into a desert".
I have one question i would like to ask those who are supporting the syrian backed opposition: why have Syria always refused to recognize Lebanon borders? why is there no syrian embassy in Beirut?
So who ever said war stopped in 1990? What we are seeing now? Simple: 1975 revisited! Why? Let's see:

Same leaders, same players, same circumstances, same ideologies, same mentality (different alliances, though, let's give them that), same hatred, same lousy amatoristic politicians, same region (more problems), same bad contitution, same world power, same regional powers. What is different? A much stronger Hezbollah thanks to a stupid, wrongful blind support by a blind population, a weaker Israel, and a stupid US goverment/foreign policy, stronger Syria thanks to a more radical Iranian government, and the list goes on...

Who is to blame most? Well, if we should blame it on anyone, lets just be honest and say "the Lebanese themselves, all sides, religions or sects combined, who thought they had anything in common when they wrote a constitution that is nothing but a bad power share contract between a bunch of people who had nothing in common and have NO real allegience to anything but themselves, first and foremost.

I am ashamed, disgusted, rebelled and angry!

A Lebanese.
without the murderous criminals of the nasrallah gang supported and directed by the madman from teheran, lebanon could be free.

i prefer the israelis any time over nasrallah

a proud lebanese patriot
to 4.09.you can prefer the Israeli all you can because you are an Israeli supporter ,but for the Lebanese who are even at odd with Hizbollah and I am one of them, Israel is the Enemy and it will remain so.as for us the Lebanese we will solve our problems between us.Nassrallah made a big Mistake by going in to Beirut ,but he is still a Lebanese Hero.
I just want to say to fellow Lebanese who posted messages of being proud or ashamed of their nationality, that as long as Lebanese will prefer syria over israel or vice versa, the US over iran or vice versa, there will still be problems in our country.

Is there any problem if you try to prefer Lebanon over other countries? Can't you see that what makes us weak is the fact of being so divided. Do you see it normal that only one side rule Lebanon? It doesn't matter what political side you prefer. You might be at the opposite extreme of my opinion. yet I respect your opinion and believe that we should live peacefully together no matter what?

Please try to watch opposite media in Lebanon to get a different view of what is happening beccause in answering 6:30 enlighment comes with knowledge.

In what we hear from their moderate statement Hizbullah and Michel Aoun are only asking to SHARE power not to put aside the sunni leadership. wanting to rule alone which is what saniora is doing now is simply against the constitution. and yet they continue holding the lebanese government hostage. and now they are implementing what the US and Isrel is dreaming about: why waste money and people to fight Hizbullah. let Lebanese fight themselves.

so please WAKE UP. can't you see that they are selling us against the petro-dollar and western agendas.

Does the future movement or saniora represent all sunnis in Lebanon. of course not. there are a wide variety of sunni citizens and leadership as well who (in what we're seing on TV) are completely against the politics of saniora and the future movement.
Since I am a patriotic Lebanese I do not want the Iranian puppet Nasrallah involved in my government in any way.

Let him go to Iran, he is not a Lebanese, he is an Iranian in soul and body.
to 3:01, please listen to Nasrallah moderate speech and learn from the way Hizbullah are behaving towards Lebanon. And remember that Lebanon belongs and should be ruled by ALL Lebanese groups no matter what their religion is. And whether we like it or not Hizbullah is supported by at least 90% of shiaa in Lebanon. Not to mention the wide variety of support Hizbullah have from the opposition of Sunnis and Christians.

See, I have an opinion totally different than you, but at the same time it is crucial that you should be represented in the government in the same way that I should be represented.

Actually you might feel represented in the so called unconstitutional goverment of minorities, but I am not represent in any way at the time being.
Nasrallah is destroying lebanon, and the world is silent.

Nasrallah rapes free Lebanon, and the world is silent.

Nasrallah soon will involve Lebanon in another war against Israel and Israel will destroy what Nasrallah has not yet destroyed.

Free world, help us patriotic Lebanese to get rid of the foreigner, the terrorist, the Iranian puppet, save Lebanon from destruction!!
i doubt a lebanese person wrote the 3:17.

this is pure madness what was written. we are free to refuse any help. we don't need any. Neither from the US, nor from europe or arabs. stay out and let lebanese solve their problems by themselves.

Is there any free world out there? the whole world is endorsing what remains from the so called saniora government against the will of more than 85% of Lebanese citizens.

so free world stay out we don't need more of your tyranism and dictatorship. you have destroyed enough our country with your western US and israeli agendas.

You are simply NOT WELCOMED.
it's very likely that 3:17 was written by saniora or jumblatt.

Hizbullah is in self defense. but it's the militia of hariri and jumblatt who are initiating war whith their US and israeli weapons.

so US stop using us as a mean to fight iran and syria with. spare us your continued tyranism.
