Saudi Arabia: When Red Roses Are Illegal
(CNN) -- Saudi Arabia has asked florists and gift shops to remove all red items until after Valentine's Day, calling the celebration of such a holiday a sin, local media reported Monday.
With a ban on red gift items over Valentine's Day in Saudi Arabia, a black market in red roses has flowered.
Question: Does Valentine's Day is only meant for 2 opposite gender only? Well, most of us send Valentines Card to our parents and relatives. Where did they (Al-Dossari)) derive the thought that celebrating Valentines day encourages unmarried men and women to be immoral? I dont think this really makes sense at all. Sometimes we have to broaden our perspective. Imposing a law must first consider the root word FREEDOM for each individual. Let us not use religion to narrow our beliefs and widen ignorance as an individual. Let us GROW with faith.
This is ridiculous. How come that there is a country law like this? I think that this government arm called "Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice" needs a virtual review of their rules. They must attend the Human Rights seminars and conventions. That will help them to be a more effective Religious People with a sense of fairness. I wonder how funny this is to be, if featured on London Newspapers. Lots of Saudis are spending their vacation there. Please let the Religious People have their vacation there as well.
