Mideast Snapshot - An American School In Gaza
CNN's Ben Wedeman and CNN cameraman David Hawley sent in these pictures of the American International School in Gaza (AISG). Not the kind of pictures we are used to seeing out of Gaza.

Ben is preparing a story on the school - which has remained operational since opening in 2000 - for the March edition of Inside the Middle East.
Here's a sneak peak:

Children with backpacks and school books outside the American International School. (February 2008)

Masked gunmen are thought to have torched the school's buses a few weeks ago. Camerman David Hawley films what is left of them under an awning close to the school.

Ok, so...the few selected elite kids get to go to a nice private school in Gaza, wear the nice uniform...eventually graduate.....and then what??? They are trapped, are they not? Didn't Ben Wedeman do a segment a while back on how some of Gaza's high school graduates are unable to leave Gaza to pursue higher education abroad....SAd situation all the way round.
Glad to see you were released from Erez and able to get to the school for the story.
To momentsintime...On your blogged posted writings..The journalist's name is Wedeman, not Wederman.
I really appreciated Ben Wedeman's "Inside the Middle East" report on the young students at the American International School in Gaza. Thank you so much for showing us Gazans as real people with aspirations, trying to live a normal life. I wish we could see that more often in the media.
