Kareen Wynter is a general assignment correspondent for CNN/U.S. Based in CNN’s Los Angeles bureau, Wynter joined CNN Newsource in June 2004 before moving to CNN/U.S.

Since joining CNN/U.S., Wynter has reported on the emotionally charged execution of death row inmate Stanley "Tookie" Williams, co-founder of the Crips street gang. For Newsource, Wynter filed feature stories and breaking news reports as well as providing custom live reports for more than 800 CNN Newsource affiliates. Wynter reported from Biloxi, Miss., on the destruction and aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the death of Pope John Paul II and the release of Martha Stewart in the spring of 2005.

Wynter joined CNN Newsource from CNN and ABC affiliate WEWS-TV in Cleveland, where she was a general assignment reporter responsible for live breaking news, as well as researching and developing stories of local interest.

Wynter earned a master of arts in broadcast journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. She also graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of arts in psychology from Boston College.
