Rima Maktabi presents CNNs Inside the Middle East programme and is an anchor and correspondent for the Middle East.
Her first appearance on CNN was on the April 2010 edition of Inside the Middle East and she then joined CNN in a full time capacity in July 2010.
In August 2010 Rima worked on CNNs iList programme, which focused on the Sultanate of Oman in the Middle East. She also covered the clashes on the Lebanese Israeli borders in August 2010.
Prior to joining CNN, Rima was a primetime news anchor and producer on Arabic news channel Al Arabiya and covered notable regional stories such as the Iranian and Lebanese elections, the Palestinian Camp War in Nahr el Bared and the 2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict. Rima has also covered international stories such as the World Economic Forum in Davos and The US Presidential Elections. Her journalism credentials also include reporting for the Annahar newspaper, as well as appearing as a news anchor and reporter for Future TV.
She has received awards from the Lebanese American University in Beirut and the Sheikh Mohamed Bin Rashed Foundation in Dubai for her coverage on the Israeli and Lebanese war in 2006.
Rima has a BA degree in Communication Arts and a Masters in International Affairs from the Lebanese American University in Beirut (LAU).
