Jeff Flock

Jeff Flock is one of CNN "originals," having joined the network in the spring of 1980 and worked on CNN's first broadcast in June of that year.

Flock has reported on most of the nation's major plane crashes, hurricanes, floods, school shootings. He covered the space shuttle Challenger explosion, the Oklahoma City bombing and the Waco standoff. He has broadcast live from a dozen hurricanes including Andrew, Hugo, and Gilbert, and reported from Kosovo during the 1999 conflict.

Flock also heads a team specializing in live reporting, including the first-ever live reports from the top of Mount Rushmore, the bottom of Pearl Harbor and the hurricane deck beneath Niagara Falls. He also broadcast a two-month long series of daily live reports called Voices from the Home Front, during Operation Desert Storm.

Flock shared CNN's Peabody and CableACE awards for coverage of the Persian Gulf War and the network's ACE awards for coverage of the Waco standoff and the Oklahoma City bombing. He won the Silver Award from the Houston International Film Festival for his reporting on the Mississippi floods in 1993 and CableACE Award nomination for his reports on the life and death of AIDS victim Ryan White.

He received the Chicago Headline Club's Peter Lisagor Award for coverage of the UPS strike in 1997 and shared the Joan Shorenstein Barone Award for the CNN special The Money Trail: Democracy For Sale in 1998.
