Greg DAlba is president, CNN News Networks & Turner Digital Ad Sales and Marketing. In this capacity, he oversees all domestic ad sales, marketing strategies and business operations for the CNN portfolio of networks (CNN/U.S., HLN, CNN en Español and CNN Airport Network) and Turners expansive digital portfolio of news, entertainment, sports and animation properties, including CNN.com, NBA.com, NCAA.com, adultswim.com and others. DAlba is also responsible for the entirety of Turners direct response business.
Previously, as executive vice-president and chief operating officer of CNN ad sales, DAlba was chiefly responsible for sales and marketing across the CNN/HLN platforms. His role expanded in January 2012 to include oversight of ad sales for the breadth of Turners digital portfolio, elevating him to his current position and title. An industry veteran, who has enjoyed more than a 25-year career at the uppermost levels of business and sales, DAlba joined Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. in 1986 as an account executive and has held ascending positions throughout his career; vice president and sales manager of CNN Sales in 1989; senior vice president in 1996 and EVP/COO in 2003.
DAlba leads a division that consistently ranks among the top ad sales units in the media marketplace. During his tenure as EVP/COO, DAlba initiated a redesign of CNN Ad Sales, creating three teams devoted to television, new media and integration, that positioned the division at the forefront of a rapidly expanding and dynamic marketplace. The creation of the CNN Strategic Integration Group, in particular, sets the CNN sales team apart from its peers as a diverse collection of seasoned marketers and brand specialists dedicated to providing opportunities and solutions for advertisers through the development of customized marketing partnerships. The group, working with the CNN television and digital ad sales teams, focuses solely on working with advertisers to enhance their messages within the CNN brand.
Reflecting his commitment to strengthening diversity retention in the media industry, DAlba was honored with the 2010 ADCOLOR® Change Agent Award from the ADCOLOR® Industry Coalition, making him the first Caucasian recipient. DAlba was named one of the top industry figures comprising the annual CableFax 100 roster two years in a row and his team is consistently ranked as a top television news sales unit by The Jack Myers Report.
DAlba sits on the Boards of Directors of the Cable television Advertising Bureau (CAB) and Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) to share his expertise on the proliferation of media platforms and the value of multi-dimensional reach in a multimedia marketplace, and serves as Board Secretary of the American Advertising Federation (AAF). He is also Board Chairman of the Ghetto Film School - including The Cinema School, the nations first film high school - and Digital Bodega, which, in addition to providing college scholarships to disadvantaged high school students, strive to connect those students who are interested in filmmaking with the entertainment and media communities. Additionally, DAlba pioneered the Turner Diversity Fellowship program with Syracuse Universitys Newhouse School of Communications to provide scholarships to students in their masters program.
