What does it say about the U.S. economy when 30 year-old men are making less than their fathers did?
Our young people "want it all" too early in life and are not willing to make sacrifices before they can afford what they want. No wonder foreigners want to come to America. If you are smart and work hard, there is a treasure chest of opportunity.
--Maurice, Two Rivers, WisconsinThe American dream has been exported to India and China. Our government and corporations are sending our best jobs and technologies overseas, making our people compete against wages of these countries. Companies that throw our citizens overboard so they can make larger profits are traitors.
--John, Gilbert, ArizonaJack, that means very simply that the conservatives have dominated American politics for much of the past 35 years implementing policies which benefit only the wealthiest 10 or 15 percent of the country at the expense of the rest of us.
--Vince, Carson City, NevadaAre our priorities out of whack if the Secret Service is considering borrowing immigration officers and airport screeners to protect presidential candidates?
Your report of the Secret Service and the Department of Homeland Security stripping their workforces is sickening. Someone is trying to do this on the cheap and in turn is making a decision which minimizes our seriousness about immigration enforcement.
--John, Birmingham, Alabama
I don't think it is a matter of screwed up priorities as much as a government that is incompetent in every conceivable area of its responsibility, except collecting taxes from the middle class.
--Dave, Huntington, New York
Whoa! What's wrong with this picture? These are all wealthy people. Romney says he won't even keep his salary if elected President. Why aren't these guys hiring their own body guards until if and when they are elected?
--Pam, Hartford, ConnecticutWhy can't the U.S. government get spending under control?
Our government leaders are mostly rich men who don't have a clue about the real world and how to budget in an economy that doesn't tolerate unlimited deficit spending. Let's elect some people who know what the inside of a grocery store looks like. I ran into Senator Dodd while we were both food shopping. He has my vote.
--Rosemary, Groton, Connecticut
Jack it's simple. When you elect Ex-CEO's whose only financial experience has been spending someone else's money, what do you expect?
--Pete, Chandler, ArizonaIt's politics, simply put. Every politician, senator or congressional representative, wants to bring home the pork while accusing their brethren of doing the same. Spending will never be brought under control and we will eventually be bankrupt. That's the plain hard truth.
