The Situation Online: Egyptian blogger jailed, space vacations

Blogger was convicted of insulting Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.

Free speech crackdown?
An Egyptian judge has sentenced 22-year-old Abdel Karim Suleiman to four years in prison for insulting Islam and criticizing Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak on his blog. Human rights groups and fellow bloggers are condemning the action, and the State Department is also "very concerned," saying today that free speech is "critical" to democracy in the Middle East.

Galactic partnership
How much would you pay for a flight into space? NASA and Virgin Galactic have signed an agreement to explore future collaboration in developing space suits, rocket motors, and other space technologies. The agreement puts Virgin Galactic one step closer to becoming the first commercial "spaceline." Flight reservations are currently selling for $200,000.
