WHAT IN THE WORLD? INNOVATION NATION This week, Fareed notices a country where innovation is thriving. Here, things like clay refrigerators are imagined and come to reality and the inventor of a hi-tech gadget - maybe the highest tech - recently returned to show off his remarkable innovation. Through this invention, the digital and real worlds meet. Imagine dialing your cell phone on your hand, playing a video game on a piece of paper -- the future belongs to those who dream, with common objects. What ideas will they come up with next? WHAT THEY'RE SAYING 11-22 As Manmohan Singh arrives in Washington for a high profile visit and state dinner hosted by Barack Obama, the world's media analyze the topics on the table. The issues are many for this three day visit: finalizing the U.S. - India nuclear deal, green technology if not greenhouse gas emission reductions in the run up to the Copenhagen talks, cooperation on terrorism including Afghanistan, and more. Some analysts below say Singh is still not as comfortable with Obama as he was with George W. Bush and his gut support of India, and that India is too large and rising to kowtow to U.S. interests. Here is a sample of views from around the world: "Singh's Washington visit to 'consolidate' US-India ties," Financial Times (UK) "Obama to roll out red carpet for India," Agence France Presse "India wants positive reaffirmation on nuke deal: PM," The Times of India "Gap between India, U.S. emissions goals grows wider," Reuters "Boost to intelligence sharing, countering terror likely during Manmohan's U.S. visit," The Hindu (India) | | | | FAREED'S BRIEFING BOOK Check out FAREED'S BRIEFING BOOK for articles and background information pertaining to this week's show.
