Falling in Love?

So have you fallen in love yet?

I ask you this because I was talking to Bill Bennett today and he remarked that in presidential races "people want to fall for somebody." I think he's right of course, but we don't normally associate politics with romance. Sure, we rarely respect our politicians the day after, but are the things we look for in a mate the same things we want from a leader? Probably not, but people do want the romance, the courtship, the feeling of discovering someone who truly understands your life.

Today was the last Republican debate before the Iowa caucuses.. tomorrow it's the Democrat's turn. It wasn't exactly a popcorn chewer of a debate, but tonite we will show you the moments that really mattered. I doubt too many of you saw the whole debate, but I'm just wondering if you are still open to falling in love, or if your heart and vote are already spoken for.

Hey Anderson - you sure know how to grab our attention! Two points for that title.

My heart and vote are already taken, sort of. Things were much better, in my opinion when Bill Clinton was president so I'm voting for Hillary. She may not be Bill, but we'll get two for the price of one. Honestly, I'm not sure anyone could be worse than what we have now.

In answer to your question, let's just say my candidate and I are in an uncommitted relationship. If someone better comes along, my person is history.

Hey Anderson, It is my hope that John Edwards makes the cut for the Democratic Party, however love doesn't get it but doing the right thing for the country instead of the politically correct thing does get it for me.

Anderson, no I am not spoken for. I'm just finding it refreshing to actually have more than one person I want to vote for. Last election the main objective of my vote was keeping someone out of office. So sometimes I guess politics is about falling in love...and sometimes it's about restraining orders.

I watched a few minutes of the debate today. Who invited Alan Keyes?

I like to fall in love with a candidate slowly. No one wants to admit to choosing the creepy creperton of politics. I'm thinking of going bi-racial with my choice or maybe even a woman.....oh my what would the republicans think?

I think Bill is right! People are looking for that right person who can fufill their wants and needs.

I have to say though that not one of these candidates are really anything special to me!! So NOPE I have not fallen head over heels for any of them! Some have gotten my attention but I'm not completely sold on them yet. But thanks for asking!! LOL

Great post Anderson. For a second I had thoughts of Valentines post and such. Your post certainly reminds me that I do want to find love and I certainly believe it is possible in this crazy world. It better be or I will be one sad lonely person and like they say love does make the world go round.

There are several people I could fall in love with this time around. I just don't want to fall in love too quickly and then find out that they aren't going to be the nominee. That would break my heart ;)

Hi Anderson, I know it's late to comment on this, but let me just say that...Sure I want to be wooed and courted by the candidates, but, as in true love, the real test comes when the honeymoon's over.
