The Christmas Campaign

How intense and early this presidential race has become. Just when things should be slowing down for the holidays, campaigns are conducting air attacks on television and in helicopters across frozen states.

I don't recall the holidays being intermingled with presidential politics before. Do you?

Who are these people who would push everything aside just to be president? I'm having trouble just finishing and shipping my Christmas gifts. I can't imagine having to beg for votes in a far off state at the same time.

I'm glad they are all running. I'm glad someone wants to be president. I just can't imagine why.

Now that U mention it, politicians did take a break in past elections for Christmas. Maybe it's so close this time, even one day off would mean missing the chance to meet a few thousand more people...

Your post gave me a good laugh. You're right, I don't remember so much politicking during the holidays in previous elections, but then, I don't remember any election half as interesting as this one!

I'm sure all the candidates have flunkies to take care of their shopping and other errands. I doubt if they even carry a wallet or a handbag around.

Forgive my cynicism - there may be some exceptions - but I think wanting to be president is mostly about wanting the power. To me power just means more responsibility, but I know not everyone looks at it that way.

First of all, religion mean testing for someone running for the Office of the President of the United States or any elected position in this country is illegal and is a direct violation of the Constitution of the United States of America. Even The Bible's Romans 13 tells us to "obey the laws of the land" and those of the Christian right are committing blasphamy.

I took this oath several times on my first day of work with various agencies of the Federal Government "I, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God." I demand that those of you in the press comply with the Constitution and stop addressing matters of faith and religion, it is illegal in the United States of America.

I don't remember campaign ads during the Christmas season before either. I don't much like it;Christmas is a nice time to be with family and escape from reality for a little while. The ads are an intrusion.

Don't feel bad about not being done shopping; I'm not either and I'm about to think I need to find a way to squeeze in another month between now and Christmas just to get done!
