At least they're all on the road. Hopefully, meeting and listening to all Americans and getting a cross section of varied opinions.

I have heard that it currently costs 12 billion dollars a month to run both the Iraq war and the Afghanistan war. This is up 2 billion dollars from the Pentagon's projections I believe in January. This is an outrage. I know that war is expensive, but 12 BILLION dollars A MONTH? That is why New Orleans can't get rebuilt and why we have all these problems trying to secure our northern and southern borders, and why we have we infrastructure throughout this country. We are spending way too much money to fund both of these wars. We need to spend that kind of money here at home getting our country straight.

The Democrats in Congress need to show that the Republicans are spending too much money and also have a plan to better utilize spending. Even if that means a phased withdrawal of troops from the region. Winning at all costs even to our demise is completely crazy if you ask me.

I hope they just leave the Hemingway cats alone! They belong there. They are very special cats.

So Cindy Sheehan is threatening to run against Nancy Pelosi if she doesn't introduce articles of impeachment against President Bush. I certainly sympathize with the loss of Ms. Sheehan's son in Iraq, however seeking to be the representative to congress for a district in which she does not even live, sounds more than a little self-serving. I don't think Speaker Pelosi is losing any sleep over the threat of Ms. Sheehan's candidacy. Considering Ms. Sheehan's past remarks which seem to blame Israel for the war in Iraq, I doubt if she'll be receiving much support from San Francisco's 210,000 Jews either.

Tom/AC360:
So, what is wrong with allotting $20 billion for school and social services, Mr. President? The high school drop out rate of the US is rising, and the social service industry is up to their necks in bureaucracy and red tape, i.e. Hurricane Katrina survivors and recovery efforts.

It is not just about spending; it is about providing services; it is not about politics; it is about humanity.

Regarding the footage shown last night of George W. Bush trying to justify his policy in Iraq, I noticed the crowd was quite subdued...no heads nodding in agreement, no encouraging faces, no applause. In past footage, it has seemed that well-selected audiences cheered anything this man had to say. Last night he appeared to be straining to get any positive recognition from the crowd--and couldn't. Can a 26% approval rating mean that the other 74% of us are now creeping into his live audience?
