Short walk from post office to Norris Hall
The Main Street post office where Cho is believed to have mailed his package is small and dingy. There are no security cameras; just a small counter where people can fill in envelopes before heading to the window. An older postal clerk sorts letters early each morning, slipping them in rows of post office boxes.

Cho apparently arrived there half an hour after it opened, handing the clerk his envelope. The walk to Norris Hall is less than 15 minutes through the main gates and past the chapel.

Seems a short walk was disastrous for VT. But the individual mailed this stuff to a media outlet knowing full well he would receive this massive, if not assanine, coverage for his actions. Things have gotten backwards in this country. I would be willing to guess that well over half of these tragedies would not happen if the "shooters" new they would get no radio, television, or computer time. The media has way to many rights not to mention no good sense. We have seen enough of this already.

As mark (springfield) says above, We have given this guy enough time in the spotlight. Is it really so important to continue having his picture on the front page?

Deborah (CNN correspondent) doesn't seem to think much of our post office. Deborah, maybe you should pack up and leave us alone. And don't forget your camera crew or whoever else came with you.

(1) The downtown branch of our post office may be small but we do not consider it dingy.

(2) The route from the post office to Norris "through the main gates and past the chapel" may look good on a map and all the possible layers of "meaning" in that route would excite my high school journalism teacher but any of us could have told you that the "real" pedestrian route to Norris would have been up College Avenue and across the drill field.

Please take time to know us and our town as we do before describing us to the world with your dingy adjectives and symbolic references.

I suppose you could manufacture some meaning by pointing out Cho would have walked past the place where all the satellite trucks on the chapel side of the drillfield now stand.

I grew up in a suburb of Boston. I *like* the little post office in downtown Blacksburg. It's quiet and friendly.

We don't have "main gates" at VT.
