CNN CHAOS IN THE WORKPLACE CONTEST OFFICIAL RULES AND REGULATIONS NO PURCHASE NECESSARY HOW TO ENTER: There are two ways to enter. One method of entry is on-line, the other is entry by mail. ON-LINE METHOD: Beginning November 13, 2000 through December 10, 2000 access the CNN web site at http://www.cnn.com/CAREER and click on the CNN Chaos in the Workplace banner or button located there. Follow the instructions at the Contest web site to fill out the Official Entry Form and submit your entry according the weekly themes listed in the chart below. You must complete and transmit the Entry Form along with your submission to enter and be eligible to win. On-line photo submissions must be in a GIF or JPEG format. On-line text submissions must be 100 words or less and be submitted in the body, and/or as an attached Word document, of the e-mail provided on the web site. On-line entry for each weekly judging ends 11:59 PM Eastern Time ("ET") each Sunday during the Contest. MAIL-IN METHOD: Print the date, your full name, address, age, and phone number on a standard postcard, include your submission according to the weekly themes chart below, and mail it, first class prepaid, to: CNN Chaos in the Workplace Contest P.O. Box 7888 Atlanta, GA 30357 To be eligible for the weekly prizes, mail-in entries must be postmarked and received according to the chart below. Mail-in entries must be hand-printed, mailed separately and bare sufficient postage. No mechanical reproductions or facsimiles accepted. One (1) prize and one (1) entry per theme per household, person and e-mail address regardless of method of entry. Weekly themes requiring a text submission must be 100 words or less to be eligible to win. Sponsor is not responsible for misdirected, lost, stolen, incomplete, late or illegible entries. Sponsor is also not responsible for technical, hardware or software failures of any kind, lost or unavailable network connections or failed, incomplete, garbled or delayed software transmissions which may limit an entrants ability to participate in the Contest or for damage to users system as a result of participation in the Contest or downloading any information necessary to participate in the Contest. ALL ENTRIES BECOME THE PROPERTY OF SPONSOR AND WILL NOT BE ACKNOWLEDGED OR RETURNED. False or deceptive entries or acts will render the entrant ineligible. DETERMINATION OF WINNERS: Entries will be judged by an outside independent judging organization, the decisions of which will be final and binding, based upon the following criteria: Originality 25% Humor 25% Adherence to Theme 25% Creativity 25% Each week, according to the chart below, ten (10) Finalists will be selected based upon the criteria set forth above. In the event of a tie, the entry judged to be the most humorous will become one of the ten (10) Finalists. The submissions of the selected ten (10) Finalists for each weeks theme will be posted on the web site located at http://www.cnn.com/CAREER/CHAOS/CONTEST for a period of three (3) days according to the chart below. During this three (3) day period, visitors or viewers to the Contest web site will be prompted to cast their vote for the best submission among the ten (10) posted Finalists. One vote per theme per person, household, and e-mail address. Each week there will be a First, Second and Third Place Winner, as well as seven (7) Runner-Up Winners. The Finalist receiving the highest percentage of votes each week will be First Place Winner. The Finalist receiving the second highest percentage of votes each week will be the Second Place Winner. The Finalist receiving the third highest percentage of votes each week will be the Third Place Winner. The seven (7) remaining Finalists each week will be the Runner-Up Winners. In the event of tie of any of the First, Second or Third Place winners, the relevant Finalists submissions will be re-judged by an independent outside judging agency according to the judging criteria set forth above to determine the winner. Weekly prize winners names, city and state will be posted on the Contest web site according to the chart below. Prize winners will be notified by phone and/or mail and/or email and must meet all eligibility requirements including the execution and delivery of all necessary releases. PRIZES: FIRST PLACE PRIZE: Four (4) First Place Prize winners will each receive one (1) digital camera. Actual market value ("AMV") First Place Prize (4 prizes): $400.00 each. SECOND PLACE PRIZE: Four (4) Second Place Prize winners will each receive one (1) Nokia Mobile Phone, model 8260 and one (1) Nokia Car Kit containing: an automatic charger, a speakerphone, a phone holder, and a microphone. AMV Second Place Prize (4 prizes): $295.00 each. THIRD PLACE PRIZE: Four (4) Third Place Prize winners will each receive one (1) Nokia Mobile Phone, model 5120 and one (1) Nokia Accessory Package containing: an Extended Lithium-ion battery, a Rapid Travel charger, a Rapid Cigarette Lighter, a Headset, a Belt Clip and face plate (where available, dependant on phone model). AMV Third Place Prize (4 prizes): $220.00 each. RUNNER-UP: Twenty-eight (28) Runner-Up winners will each receive one (1) Career for Dummies book. AMV Runner-Up Prize (28 prizes): $20.00 each. TOTAL AMV OF CONTEST (40 prizes): $ 4,220.00 GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS: NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Contest is open to legal residents of D.C. and the United States, excluding Colorado, who are at least 18 years of age at the time of entry. Void in Colorado and where prohibited. By entering the Contest, contestants agree to abide by all terms of these Official Rules and Regulations applicable thereto. Subject to all local, state and federal laws and regulations. Some restrictions apply. By submitting an entry, contestants grant the Sponsor the right to use, reuse, publish and re-publish in whole or in part, in composite or distorted in character or form, without restrictions as to changes or alternations, their entry submissions including their likeness in any and all media, now or hereafter known for illustration, promotion, art, editorial, advertising, trade or any other purpose whatsoever without compensation. The reporting and payment of any tax liabilities incurred by the winners as a result of this Contest are the sole responsibility of the winners. No alteration, substitution, transfer of prizes or cash redemption permitted by winners. CNN (One CNN Center, Box 105366, Atlanta, GA 30348) (the "Sponsor") reserves the right to substitute any prize(s) or cash of like value in the event the described prizes, or any portions thereof, are unavailable for any reason whatsoever. Return of any prize or prize notification as undeliverable will result in disqualification and an alternate winner may be selected at the Sponsors discretion. In the event any winner declines his or her prize or fails to return completed releases, Sponsor may elect, at its own discretion, to select an alternate winner. Winners, by acceptance of prize, agrees to release Sponsor and judging agency from any and all liability claims or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages or losses to persons and property which may be sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership or use of the prize, or while preparing for, participating in, and/or traveling to any prize-related activity. Sponsor expressly disclaims any responsibility or liability for injury or loss to any person or property relating to the delivery and/or subsequent use of the prize awarded. Prize winners will be required to sign affidavits of eligibility, liability releases and, except where prohibited by law, releases granting Sponsor the right to use their names, voices, pictures and likenesses, without compensation, for the purpose of advertising and publicizing the services of Sponsor, and all matters related to the Contest. Prize winners will be required to execute these documents and return them within ten (10) days. Noncompliance within this time period may result in disqualification. If technical difficulties of any kind compromise the integrity or ability to continue on-line entry, Sponsor reserves the right to terminate on-line entry. All eligible entries received on-line prior to occurrence of technical difficulty will be included in the judging. Where on-line portion of Contest terminated prior to stated expiration date, notice will be posted at the CNN web site. Employees and their immediate families (spouses, siblings, children, household members and the spouses and children of the foregoing) of Sponsor, the independent judging organization and their respective parents, subsidiaries and affiliated entities are not eligible to participate in the Sweepstakes.
