Asylum-seekers riot at Australian detention center
More than 180 asylum-seekers armed with iron bars and bricks rioted at a remote Australian immigration detention center in the latest outburst of unrest at the controversial camps, police said on Monday.
Police said they were called to the Port Hedland center in northwestern Australia, which houses mostly Middle Eastern asylum-seekers, after detainees took control of the compound and staff evacuated the privately-run center late on Sunday.
