If you're thinking Internet, you're thinking connectivity. For a rapidly increasing number of people, a personal computer is a communication device, not just a stand-alone tool for word processing, spreadsheets or video games. Asia still has a long way to go to get wired, but it is hurrying to catch up. Based on the rapidly expanding number of online users, investment bankers SalomonSmithBarney predict overall Internet revenue - including e-commerce - to rise from $1.3 billion in 1999 to $92 billion in 2005.
