Clinton names new head speechwriter

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Clinton has a new head speechwriter.
J.Terry Edmonds has been named assistant to the president and director of speechwriting, making him the first African-American to hold that post.
Edmonds worked in the speechwriting office from 1995 to 1997. Most recently he worked at the Social Security administration.
"Terry Edmounds has already served my administration with great distinction," the president said in a statement, "and I am looking foward to the invaluable contribution he will make in this new role."
Edmonds has more than 24 years of experience as a public affairs and feature writer in both the public and private sectors.
