Poll: Public remains unsympathetic to Lewinsky
March 5, 1999 WASHINGTON (AllPolitics, March 5) -- If Monica Lewinsky was hoping to begin to rebuild her image with this week's two-hour TV interview, she still has a long ways to go, judging from the results of a new CNN/USA Today/Gallup Poll. Most Americans continue to have a jaded view of President Bill Clinton's ex-lover, consider her immature and shameless and think she would have another affair with a married man if she thought she could get away with it. Only 25 percent of the public have a sympathetic view of Lewinsky, and 54 percent say after Lewinsky's TV interview, they either have a worse opinion of her, or there was no change in their feelings. The poll results are based on interviews with 662 adult Americans on March 4. The survey has a margin of sampling error of +/- 4 percentage points, except where noted. Question 1: Based on what you know and have seen in the news, how do you feel toward Monica Lewinsky, Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton -- very sympathetic, somewhat sympathetic, somewhat unsympathetic, or very unsympathetic?Sympathetic Toward Monica Lewinsky?
