Poll: Clinton still riding high, but Senate slipping
January 27, 1999 WASHINGTON (AllPolitics, January 27) -- The latest CNN/USA Today/Gallup Poll shows the public continues to approve of how the president is handling his job, but approval of the way Senate Republicans and Democrats are handling the impeachment trial is slipping. Approval for Senate Democrats is down eight percentage points from earlier this month. A majority of respondents to the poll expressed disapproval of the Senate decisions to continue the trial and to get more testimony from witnesses. But a slight majority also disapproved of President Bill Clinton's refusal to answer questions put to him by GOP senators. Results of latest CNN/USA Today/Gallup Poll, which included interviews with 645 adult Americans conducted January 27. The margin of sampling error is +/- 4 percentage points.
