What's at stake in the House?
And what are the hot House races?
(AllPolitics, November 3) -- In the final hours of Election Day '98, one of the biggest unknowns is what the final balance of power in the House of Representatives will be.
With all 435 House seats up for grabs, Democrats need only 11 seats to regain control. Republicans now control 228 seats to the Democrats' 206, with 1 independent.
But most analysts are predicting that it is the Republicans who will make gains, although only modest, single-digit gains.
The most competitive battlegrounds this season have been the 34 open seats, which are evenly divided between both parties.
