Latest release includes testimony from key players

WASHINGTON (AllPolitics, October 3) -- The 4,000-plus pages of Independent Counsel Ken Starr's supporting documents released Friday was primarily transcripts of the secret grand jury testimony in the sex-and-perjury investigation of President Bill Clinton and his relationship with Monica Lewinsky.

Here are links to some of the highlights in the material -- 4,610 pages in three thick paperback books produced by the Government Printing Office:

The Tripp Tapes

Included in the material released by the House Judiciary Committee are edited transcripts of conversations between Linda Tripp and Monica Lewinsky that were recorded secretly by Tripp. The transcript of a meeting between the two women when Tripp was wearing a body mic from the FBI follows those documents. Also available is a review of the tapes by the Office of the Independent Counsel (OIC).

Secret Service Officers, Agents

Lead Agent Larry Cockell testified he would be the last person who agents would come to with rumors about the president and Lewinsky. | July 23 grand jury testimony

Uniformed Officer Brent James Chinery testified it was "common knowledge" among his colleagues that President Clinton was having a sexual relationship with Monica Lewinsky at the White House. He told a story about how a White House steward, Bayani Nelvis, told him "he was tired of cleaning up the mess after Monica and the president had been back in the pantry. Uniformed Secret Service officer Gary Byrne told of several run-ins with Lewinsky and complained about her to her superiors. "I kind of classified Monica as a cross between stalker and a 15-year-old chasing a rock star," he told the grand jury. | July 16 grand jury testimony

Kathleen Estep

Psychologist Kathleen Estep, a licensed certified Social Worker, told investigators she met with Lewinsky three times in November 1996, after Lewinsky. During those sessions Lewinsky went into detail about her relationship with President Clinton.

Marcia Lewis

Marcia Lewis, Monica Lewinsky's mother, testified to the grand jury that her daughter did not tell her about her affair with President Clinton, but she began suspecting otherwise after Monica told her she loved him.

Harry Thomason

Harry Thomason, a Hollywood producer and longtime friend of President Clinton who was at the White House in the early days of the Lewinsky scandal, and around the time of the president's August 17 testimony.

Dick Morris

A presidential adviser during Clinton's 1996 re-election campaign until he was forced to resign amidst his own sex scandal, Dick Morris testified that the president indirectly admitted to a relationship with Lewinsky on January 21. Morris also said the White House has a secret team to intimidate women whose names have been connected with the president.
