Clinton wins Australia radio poll to be next Prime MinisterSYDNEY, Australia (AllPolitics, September 30) -- Results from a recent poll by an Australian Radio Station, Radio 2SM, show that President Bill Clinton would win convincingly if he were to run in next weekend's election for prime minister. The poll, conducted in Sydney over the last two weeks, asked listeners to choose the person they would like best as their next Prime Minister. Other candidates included incumbent Prime Minister John Howard, Labor leader Kim Beazley, One Nation leader Pauline Hanson and Clinton. The radio station received hundreds of calls with a resounding 44 percent of those calls choosing Clinton as the person they would most like as the next Prime Minister. The Howard and challenger Hanson are neck and neck at 19 percent with Beazley not far behind at 18 percent. The station's general manager Ian Walker was quoted to have said in a press release on Wednesday "Our poll shows how disillusioned Australians seem with their political smorgasbord. Perhaps if Howard and Beazley did a "Clinton" they would have more of a chance in winning this weekend's election." |
