Gunshots Fired In The Capitol
WASHINGTON (AllPolitics, July 24) -- A gunman fired shots inside the Capitol Hill building Friday afternoon. Sources inside the building tell CNN that three people were injured, including two Capitol Hill police officers.

Two two injured officers are both in serious condition and enroute to a local hospital. A bystander was also injured.
The gunman is also reported to be injured, probably shot. Following the shooting the suspect is reported to have walked into the offices of Sen. Tom DeLay (R-Texas) where the gunman was then apprehended.
An aide for House Speaker Newt Gingrich's tells CNN the incident took place outside of the Documents Room, which is nearby the area of the House leadership offices.
Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott's office first called CNN and said there was a gunman who has fired shots in an area of the Capitol known as "the crypt," a chamber located directly below the House rotunda.
CNN's live shots from outside of the Capitol showed several emergency vehicles, including several ambulances. The crowd of tourists grew quickly as police tried to contain the scene.
House Minority Leader Dick Gephardt's office reported hearing six or seven shots as well. Gephardt's staff quickly barricaded themselves in their offices.
Another witness said she had just gone into the House side of the Capitol when she heard at least five shots.
The building is not being evacuated, but no one is being let in or out.
