Clinton Codefendant Says Jones Has No Case

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AllPolitics, March 5) -- Lawyers for President Bill Clinton's codefendant in the Paula Jones civil rights case claim her lawsuit should be dismissed because Jones has not proven her allegations.

Danny Ferguson's attorneys argue Jones has not shown that she experienced trouble at work following her rejection of alleged advances from then-Gov. Clinton. Bill Bristow, one of Ferguson's attorneys, filed court documents Wednesday. Lawyers for the president have made the same argument.

Ferguson's filing refers to arguments made by Clinton lawyers in their motion to dismiss the lawsuit filed two weeks ago. Both maintain Jones filed suit without reviewing personnel files, which they say lack evidence of adverse job experiences as a result of her alleged encounter with Clinton.

Jones claims Clinton asked her for oral sex in a Little Rock hotel in 1991. Clinton has denied any wrongdoing, and the case is scheduled to go to trial May 27.

Jones claims Ferguson, a state trooper, helped arrange the Excelsior Hotel meeting.

Jones' lawyers have to respond to Clinton's request for summary judgment by March 13 and have two weeks to respond to the request made by Ferguson.
