Clinton Plays Golf Near Presidential Retreat
Reporters kept far away; no questions about Lewinsky
THURMONT, Md. (AllPolitics, Jan. 31) -- President Bill Clinton emerged from seclusion at Camp David Saturday for a round of golf with friends, relatives and his dog Buddy.
Joining the president was his brother Roger Clinton, brothers-in-law Hugh and Tony Rodham and Hollywood producer Harry Thomasson. The first dog amused himself by romping on the greens and fairways, and introducing himself to strangers nearby. Buddy seemed to take particular pleasure in moving golf balls from their positions on the greens.
Clinton made a special effort to introduce Buddy to Mason Johnson, a 5 1/2-year-old boy who stopped by to see the president. Clinton halted play long enough to autograph a ball for the boy.
Reporters were kept far away, and weren't able to ask any questions about Clinton's alleged involvement with Monica Lewinsky, a former White House intern.
