Completing The Team
President Bill Clinton made the finishing touches on his Cabinet choices, naming a racially diverse domestic team, which included the surprise appointment of current Transportation Secretary Federico Peña to be the new Energy secretary.
Last week Clinton named Rep. Bill Richardson as U.N. ambassador, Democratic activist Bill Daley as secretary of commerce and Gene Sperling to head the National Economic Council. He also asked Attorney General Janet Reno to stay on for his second term. Earlier he unveiled his national security team which includes Madeleine Albright as secretary of state of retiring Sen. William Cohen as secretary of defense.
