Subject: Clinton Attorney Requests Delay In Depositions
President Bill Clinton's attorney Robert Bennett has filed a motion in Little Rock requesting that federal judge Susan Webber Wright delay depositions scheduled by lawyers for Paula Jones until hearings can be held.
Among those on Bennett's list are Dolly Kyle Browning, scheduled for deposition tomorrow in Dallas, where she lives. She is described as a former girlfriend of Bill Clinton's, reported in some publications to support Paula Jones' description of unique genital characteristics.
Also included are Larry Patterson, L.D. Brown, and Roger Perry, Arkansas State Police officers who served as bodyguards to then-Gov. Bill Clinton who have alleged they helped arrange various sexual trysts.
In his filing, Bennett said, "This discovery is not intended to obtain admissible evidence, nor is it likely to lead to the discovery of admissible evidence, but rather is designed to harass and embarrass the President."
No word at this writing of a ruling by the judge, and whether she will rule in time to delay the Browning deposition tomorrow. Judge Wright is in trial in Batesville, Ark.
From Jones' spokesperson Susan Carpenter McMillan, this reaction: "What is he hiding? He is trying to stall the case."
