From: CNN Subject: Clinton Mourns Denver As 'Champion Of The Environment' President Bill Clinton, on a state visit to South America, said today he and Hillary were saddened by the death of singer-song writer John Denver. Clinton said Denver's "soaring music evoked the grandeur of our landscape and the simple warmth of human love."Clinton called Denver, whose plane crashed Sunday in California's Monterey Bay, "a dedicated champion of the environment" and a goodwill ambassador who "opened many doors to understanding among nations" with his tours to Soviet Union, China and Vietnam.
