From: Janet Moore/CNN Producer Subject: Lott raises possibility of extending deadline on campaign finance hearings Senate hearings on the controversy over fund-raising abuses during the 1996 election may have to be extended beyond the Dec. 31 deadline, according to Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott (R-Miss.). Lott told reporters Wednesday that if the committee comes across more information or continues not to receive information requested, there would be an argument for extension. Saying he would like to find out "as much information as we can," Lott added, "It might not be possible." Late Tuesday, Lott accused Attorney General Janet Reno of "not doing her job" by not appointing a special counsel, and for not being forthcoming to the Senate committee. Lott referred to her as "Stonewall Reno." In Other News:Wednesday Oct. 8, 1997
