From: CNN Subject: Shots Fired At Washington Monument A 60-year-old Bedford, Ind., man was arrested today after opening fire at the Washington Monument. No one was injured. Lynn G. Thacker was taken into custody by U.S. Park Police shortly after the 11:20 a.m. EDT incident. Thacker was said to be mumbling incoherently, and police said he told them he "didn't want to hurt anyone." He was taken to St. Elizabeth's hospital for observation. Thacker fired two shots with a 12-gauge shotgun, one at a "Welcome to the Washington Monument" sign and one in the air.
