Subject: White House Rolls Eyes At Forbes Ad Campaign
White House aides are rolling their eyes at the latest radio ad campaign by Republican presidential hopeful Steve Forbes.
The billionaire's organization -- Americans for Hope, Growth and Opportunity -- is running an ad in Martha's Vineyard, where the first family is vacationing, suggesting, "now is the time for President Clinton and Congress to act to stop radicals from legalizing dangerous drugs."
In the ad, Forbes criticizes voter initiatives designed to legalize marijuana for medicinal purposes and suggests people who "agree now is the time for President Clinton and Congress to stop this nonsense" and call his organization.
Clinton opposes legalizing marijuana for medicinal purposes. so when asked about the Forbes ad Monday, Deputy White House Press Secretary Barry Toiv said, "The president's position on legalization of marijuana is well-known, but Steve Forbes craves attention."
