Starr Holds His Tongue

SAN FRANCISCO (AllPolitics, Aug. 5) -- If lawyers at the American Bar Association were expecting the inside skinny from Whitewater Independent Counsel Kenneth Starr, they came away Monday disappointed.

Starr, who has gotten in trouble before for his comments about his protracted investigation, talked about the "rather breathtaking" recent Supreme Court term -- all but the case that gave Whitewater investigators access to White House lawyers' notes of conversations with Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Starr also declined comment on whether he might leave his post soon.

"No updates; I've thrown all calendars away," he joked. Starr was criticized earlier this year when he announced he was leaving the investigation for a post at Southern California's Pepperdine University; he flip-flopped within days and said he would stay on.
