Chelsea's College ChumRomance had nothing to do with her choice of Stanford, friends say
WASHINGTON (AllPolitics, May 22) -- Chelsea Clinton can't catch a break. Almost immediately after the brainy first daughter settled on Stanford University, speculation broke out that she might have picked Stanford as much for romance as its academics. That's because a friend of Chelsea's, Marc Mezvinsky, attends the campus south of San Francisco. Mezvinsky squired Clinton around campus last month during a visit, escorted her and some friends to a frat party and is rumored to have lined up a White House internship this summer. Mutual friends say the two, who met in Hilton Head, S.C. last December, are just friends, and say the press ought to leave them alone. Clinton, 17, had her pick of the nation's most elite schools, including Brown, Harvard, Georgetown, Princeton, Wellesley and Yale. The Sidwell Friends School senior was one of only 15,000 students across the country to qualify as a National Merit semifinalist, a distinction based on her standardized test scores. |
