White House Correspondents' Dinner A Place To Be Seen
WASHINGTON (AllPolitics, April 26) -- A virtual Who's Who of the political, journalistic and entertainment worlds gathered Saturday at the Washington Hilton for the annual White House Correspondents' Association dinner. President Clinton and first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton, wearing a colorful silky pajama-looking outfit, headlined the guest list. Vice President Al Gore and wife Tipper were also in attendance. Comedian Jon Stewart had the assignment of entertaining an audience that already seemed quite jovial.
The crowds were made to intermingle, as Secretary of State Madeline Albright, for example, was seated at the same table as actor Alec Baldwin. And, of course, the dinner would not have a real reason for being held without having some of the elite of Washington's journalists. Among those spotted in the crowd were CNN Senior White House Correspondent Wolf Blitzer and NBC's Andrea Mitchell. |
