Subject: ENDA sponsors talk strategy with President Clinton

Lead sponsors of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act today met with President Bill Clinton to map out a strategy for passing the act in the 105th Congress.

Sens. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) and Joseph Lieberman (D-Conn.) and Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) were joined by Wade Henderson and Dorothy Height, the Chair of the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights, showing that they all stand together for civil rights.

In a written statement, the president said that ENDA is "an important piece of civil rights legislation which would extend basic employment discrimination protections to gay and lesbian Americans ... At the meeting I underscored my strong support of the bill."
