Reno's CallMajority say Attorney General should allow independent fund-raising investigationBy Keating Holland/CNN WASHINGTON (AllPolitics, April 21) -- Even though the majority of Americans feel that allegations of fund-raising abuses aren't important enough for Congress to spend time investigating, even more people say that Attorney General Janet Reno's office should appoint an independent counsel to do so. According to the latest CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll, nearly six in ten Americans believe that Reno should appoint a person from outside the Clinton Administration to head an investigation into Clinton's 1996 fund-raising activities. Only 38 percent say that she should not do so. By a three-to-two margin, the public has a favorable view of Reno herself, although her favorable rating is down slightly from 1993 and her unfavorable rating has nearly doubled.
