Mich. 09: Democratic Kildee Stretches Winning Streak
(AllPolitics, Nov. 5) -- Democratic Rep. Dale Kildee is headed back to Washington for an 11th term after defeating the attempt of Republican Patrick Nowak to seize Michigan's 9th District. Kildee, a senior Democrat on the House Economic and Education Opportunities Committee, suggested Nowak would undermine education, Social Security and Medicare if elected. Kildee enjoyed strong AFL-CIO support. Nowak, a former state transportation official, accused Kildee of flip-flopping on welfare reform, and campaigned for tax cuts, a balanced budget and a scaled-back federal government. Race Profiles |
