Open Seats Staying Put

Only two of the 12 open seats decided so far has switched parties.

Republican John Thune has beaten Democrat Rick Weiland in the seat Democratic Rep. Tim Johnson left open when he went after Larry Pressler's Senate seat. But the others are staying put.

• Jerry Moran (Kansas 1)
• Roy Blunt (Missouri 7)
• Ed Thune (S.D. at large)
• Bill Jenkins (Tenn. 1)

Also decided:

• N.C. 04: Former Rep. David Price (D) won his seat back from freshman Rep. Fred Heineman (R).
• Ill. 05: State Rep. Rod Blagojevich (D) defeated the incumbent, Rep. Michael Patrick Flanagan (R).
• NJ 09: Rothman wins.
