Democrat Salvages Win In Arkansas

Democrat Victor F. Snyder seems to have eked out a victory as the final ballots are counted in Arkansas' 2nd district.

The seat had been called earlier in the evening for Republican Bud Cummins, but with 97 percent of the vote in, Snyder has pulled ahead, with 109,739 votes (52 percent) to Cummins' 99,667 (48 percent).

Snyder had been heavily favored to retain the seat after it had been vacated by Democratic Rep. Ray Thornton's retirement.
