Kan. 03: GOP's Snowbarger Wins In Conservative Area

(AllPolitics, Nov. 5) -- Republican Vince Snowbarger capitalized on the traditional conservatism of Kansas' 3rd District to defeat Democrat Judy Hancock for the open House seat.

Snowbarger talked up a balanced budget constitutional amendment, tax cuts, welfare reform and term limits. He criticized Hancock for alleged distortions of both his and her records.

Hancock, in her second attempt to win the seat, reached out to moderate Republicans while trying to link Snowbarger to the Gingrich House agenda. She stressed crime, coming out in favor of the assault weapons ban and the Brady bill.
