Conn. 02: Gejdenson Holds Off Third Munster Challenge(AllPolitics, Nov. 5) -- Democratic Rep. Sam Gejdenson withstood a third and perhaps final challenge from Republican Edward Munster for Connecticut's 2nd District. Gejdenson reminded voters of conservative GOP proposals to alter programs such as Medicare, Medicaid and college student loans. Munster campaigned for tight fiscal controls and a smaller government, as well as a balanced budget constitutional amendment. Munster lost to Gejdenson by just 21 votes two years ago, and by 2 percentage points in 1992. Some state GOP officials suggested Munster may have had his best chance in 1994. |
