Text Of Pat Buchanan's Statement Endorsing Bob Dole
In its tremendous platform for 1996, the Republican Party
powerfully
endorsed the following:
- Respect for the inviolable right to life; whether of preborn
child, or terminally ill.
- An end to discrimination and racial preference; equal justice
under law; and special privelage for none.
- Free and fair trade -- with free and fair traders; and a tough
policy toward predatory traders like China and Japan.
- Tax cuts to revitalize the US economy, and relieve the economic
insecurity of America's working menn and women and middle class,
and restore the American Dream for all our people.
- Restoration, and protection, of America's national sovereignty
and, never again, US troops under UN command.
- Defense of America's borders, and reform of America's
immigration laws, to make us one nation, one people again.
This was the Buchanan Agenda of 1996.
Its embrace by the Republican Party is a triumph of our campaign,
vindication of our decision not to quit this race.
If our party will run on these issues, we can win -- on these
issues.
And the one -- the only -- realistic chance we have, in 1996 - to
implement the agenda for which we campaigned for 18 months -- is to keep
Congress Republican, and replace Clinton-gore with a Republican
Administration.
Therefore, I endorse the Republican ticket of Dole-Kemp, and will
work for a national Republican victory in November.
