It is not my goal to restore your faith in government. Your faith should be in God. Put not your faith in princes.
Government cannot be an instrument of salvation, but we can stop it from being a force for moral degradation.
As the Declaration of Independence points out, government "derives its just powers from the consent of the governed". That's because we, as God's creatures, are stewards of God's sovereignty, and our designated governors, chosen from among us, must be accountable to us so that we can be accountable to Him.
That's why we can tolerate no New World Order; no subsidies that conflict with Thomas Jefferson's prescription that "To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical"; no permanent civil service bureaucracy (you know, we need term limits for bureaucrats far more than for elected officials); no runaway judiciary which misperceives its function as being that of making law rather than declaring it; no Presidential "Executive Orders" which seek to transform the President of the United States from chief executive to chief lawmaker; no regulations made by unaccountable, quasi-legislatures such as the Environmental Protection Agency, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Federal Communications Commission, the Federal Election Commission, the Food and Drug Administration, and others, which unconstitutionally bear rule over us because Congress has been derelict in its duty as the exclusive law-making authority under the Constitution of the United States.
