Answer from Perot

If we are ever going to end the control the special interests hold on our government, we must enact strict campaign finance reform, lobbying reform, and election reform. A recent study by the Associated Press reveals that the special interests have spent more than $400 million on federal races this election cycle, and this is a conservative estimate.

The two major political parties and their presidential candidates benefit from this money. Since the two major political parties are beholden to the special interests, the parties will not end the current system. We need a new political party that represents the American people and will solve our nation's problems.

This year the Reform Party received less than half the amount of federal funds as the two major parties. If we receive 25 percent of the vote or more this year, we will be guaranteed full federal funding in the year 2000. We will then be able to compete on an equal playing field.
