ROBERT NOVAK

Nationally Syndicated Columnist Robert Novak serves as a political analyst on Inside Politics which airs weekdays from 4 - 4:30 and 8:30 - 9 p.m. (ET). He also co-hosts, with Rowland Evans, CNN's half- hour discussion program, Evans & Novak, is a co-executive producer and panelist for CNN's The Capital Gang and co-hosts CNN's daily political debate program, Crossfire.

On May 15, 1963, he teamed with Rowland Evans, then congressional correspondent for The New York Herald-Tribune, to write "Inside Report," a political column published four times a week. It is syndicated by Creators Syndicate to more than 150 newspapers. The Chicago Sun-Times has been the home newspaper to the column since 1966. On May 15, 1993, Evans retired from the column and now writes only occassionally. It is currently syndicated three times a week.

Evans and Novak continue to write a bi-weekly newsletter, "The Evans-Novak Political Report." They have also co-authored several books including Lyndon B. Johnson: The Exercise of Power, Nixon in the White House and The Reagan Revolution.

Novak has also traveled extensively as a reporter, covering major international events and interviewing world leaders. His 1978 trip to China included an exclusive interview with Deng Tsiao-peng that opened the way for normalization of U.S.-Chinese relations.

Novaks first newspaper jobs were as a reporter for the Joliet (Ill.) Herald-News and the Champaign-Urbana (Ill.) Courier while attending the University of Illinois (1948-1952).
