(CNN)A car bombing near several embassies in Kabul, Afghanistan, killed at least 150 people this week.

The blast wounded nearly 300, including women and children.
More than 100,000 people have been killed in the Afghanistan war that started in 2001. But even before this latest conflict, the Afghan people suffered through decades of earlier fighting, civil unrest and natural disasters.
