(CNN)Protests erupted for a second night in Charlotte, North Carolina, after a police officer shot and killed Keith Lamont Scott, a father of seven, on Tuesday.

  • One person was in critical condition after being shot Wednesday night by a civilian during the unrest, the city tweeted.
  • At least five police officers suffered injuries not considered life-threatening during Wednesday night's protests, police said.
