Dr. Dre will not face misdemeanor gun charges stemming from an incident that happened outside his home on Monday

Los Angeles CNN  —

Rapper, producer and business mogul Dr. Dre will not face misdemeanor gun charges stemming from an incident that happened outside his Malibu home earlier this week, a Los Angeles District Attorney spokesperson told CNN.

Dr. Dre, whose real name is Andre Young, was facing a possible misdemeanor charge of exhibiting a concealable firearm in public. A spokesperson for the DA says they’ve declined to pursue charges “due to a lack of sufficient evidence.”

On Monday, Dre was briefly detained by police outside his home after a man who was blocking his driveway alleged Dre had threatened him and shown a gun.

Police declined to pursue any further action against Dre after finding no weapon, and released him at the scene. The caller, however, initiated a citizen’s arrest and Dre was given a citation with an order to appear in court if the DA pursued charges.
