South Africa's violent history in haunting artworks

Born in 1986 in Soweto, Mohau Modisakeng originally trained in sculpture, but often uses self-portraiture in large scale photographs, performance and video installations. "Most people would describe my work as dark, because it's unapologetic about bringing this aspect of South Africa into people's minds" he says.
His first solo exhibition in London takes place at the Tyburn gallery. Titled Bophirima -- meaning West, or the direction from where the sun sets in the artist's mother tongue Setswana -- it further explores South Africa's desire to forget and move on. Take a look...
